Farm Today, Houses Tomorrow

Cornfields give way to new driveways

On Sunday we went to photograph from a cornfield on a hill that overlooks a large farm. Peter has photographed here a number of times and it is an area that we visit frequently. The painting, Passing Storm is based on this location. Today, we couldn't find it and we realized we drove right by it because the corn fields had been turned over, driveways laid in and three new houses stood where the field once was. We both felt the loss. I have mixed feelings. Someone is getting a new home, a builder and his crew are working, but this beautiful land in Orange County, NY is disappearing all too quickly.

Lucky Chance

Peter recording an extraordinary farm on a beautiful day

What a day we had on Saturday. We went out for a drive and visited a few of Peter's favorite farms over in Warwick, NY. By chance, we met the owner of a local farm who did not yell at us to get off his property like some do, but invited us to explore his family's amazing land. In a county, where the farms are turning into housing developments, it was a wonder to see this beautiful piece of land largely untouched and very much a working farm. What a great experience.

RS Hanna Gallery

Opening Reception

The opening reception for Timeless Expressions: Peter Fiore, Marc Hanson and Dan Beck was a great success. The work looks beautiful and we met so many wonderful people. The show will be up for the month of October. If you're in the area, definitely stop in or view the work online. RS Hanna Gallery is in Fredericksburg, TX and is a beautiful space. Owner Shannon Hanna and her husband Thad did a great job of putting this show together. If you have any questions regarding the gallery or paintings, contact Shannon.

Texas Log Cabin

Stepping back in time at The Log Cabin

Sunrise view

We're staying at The Log Cabin in Fredericksburg, TX. It is very charming, right down to the scorpion in the bath tub! Yikes! But really a beautiful spot, and a wonderful experience.

Texas Hill Country

Peter finds his spot to photograph...

...and I found mine

Peter and I are in Fredericksburg, Texas for the opening of his show with Marc Hanson and Dan Beck at RS Hanna Gallery. We got up early this morning to photograph the sunrise. The landscape here is beautiful and so different from home. Yesterday, we went out scouting and marked a few interesting spots in the GPS so we would have a destination or two for this morning.

Those spots didn't work out as well as we had hoped, but along the way we found this open field with the rising sun breaking through the early morning fog. It lasted just a moment and was gone. As Peter would say, truly magical. I'm so happy we were there to see it.
