Pom Poms Galore!

I love this time of year when all of the various grasses and plants in the fields of the DWGNRA are left standing and bare. They're so beautiful. I'm sure these "Pom Poms" have an official name -- I just don't know what it is, so to me, they are the pom poms or is it pom-poms or pompoms or pompons?

DWGNRA

I'm usually photographing down there, in the valley!

This weekend I went for a walk along the ridge that is often in the background of many of my photos that I take in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA). What a wonderful walk in a beautiful national park, not very far from where we live. I am very grateful that the park is here. If you follow my blog, you know that Peter and I walk and photograph here often. It is an endless source of inspiration.

Snowy Path

Foot prints of a tree hunter

It snowed last night! What a nice surprise to wake up to. We went out early to photograph some trees that Peter has been studying. It was cold and wet but beautiful and worth the trip. We had a great breakfast at the Waterwheel Cafe afterwards. Yum.

A Tail in the Field

A fox tail, sans fox

One more photo from my walk earlier this week. I went off the path looking for feathers and seed pods and came across this tail attached to a skeleton that had been picked clean. There is a lot of activity going on in these quiet old corn fields in the national park. All sorts of animals come through to snack on the fallen corn cobs and each other.

Cozy Nests

I discovered these nests on my walk the other day. These birds are making use of all of the fluffy seeds being released. I don't know what kind of birds are living here, but they sure make a comfy nest.
