Single Fare 3
Lisa's spectacular Single Fare paintings
We went to the Single Fare show to see Lisa's little gems. I ask myself, how does she manage so much detail at that size and still maintain her painterly style? I don't know! The gallery was packed and there were so many amazing little paintings. A fun night.

Another Take
... on unexpected beauty
Lisa and I went for a walk on Saturday. The last few photos I've posted are from that afternoon. We were both struck by the sunlight coming through the curtained windows of this abandoned restaurant. Lisa posted her photo a few days ago with all it's soft and beautiful moodiness and here is mine -- a different variation on the same motif.

Sunrise

Paul and Lisa photographing from the Milford Bridge
Lisa and Paul are home for the weekend. We were up very early this morning to go out photographing. Our original destination was teaming with hunters, so we raced away looking for a new location to catch the sunrise. As we crossed the Delaware River and headed into New Jersey, the sun was just starting to break. Peter stayed with the car as Lisa, Paul and I headed out onto the bridge to watch the sunrise unfold. It was cold, beautiful and well worth getting up to see.

Los Angeles, Santa Monica Beach

After a long plane ride, Lisa and I put our feet in the Pacific

More lovely kelp washed up on the beach at Santa Monica
Lisa and I spent a week in Southern California. We had a wonderful time visiting old friends and exploring city, beach and desert. I'm going to post some of my photos from the trip -- be sure to see Lisa's photos as well on her blog.

SVA Junior Thesis Show '10

Lisa with her work
Congratulations to Lisa and all of the third year illustration students at the School of Visual Arts who did such amazing and inspiring work for their Junior Thesis Project, "Classical Myths Transformed". Lisa's symbolic still life paintings of Hera, Artemis, Aphrodite, Hades and Poseidon are so moody and lush and beautifully painted. We are so proud of her! It was a fun night.

A Trip to the Met

The Great Hall was a swirl of activity
We took Lisa back to the city and spent the afternoon at the Met. Peter and Lisa went off to discuss painting and I went in search of ancient sculpture and inspiration. It's been a long time since I wandered around the museum by myself and without a real plan. Fun was had by all.

Goldfish

Me with goldfish
We now have 3 goldfish -- props from Lisa's photo shoot this weekend that are now our pets. I think it's interesting that we cooked 2 live lobsters, a pound of live mussels, a pound of live clams along with shrimp and calamari, but felt compelled to save the lives of 3 goldfish. I'm surprised how much we are enjoying them, especially Peter.
